The reputation, painstakingly achieved over the years by the Christian Community in Kerala in the field of both basic and higher education, is the result of the synergic action fuelled with the right vision, commitment and hard work put in by our predecessors. The new educational policy introduced recently by the Govt. of Kerala, encouraging self financing institutions in the field of Engineering and Technology, has been catalystic to the visionaries among us to think in this line also.

Amrita School of Engineering

With the guidance of our beloved Chancellor Amma, the first Amrita School of Engineering was started in 1994 in Coimbatore. In 2002, two additional Schools of Engineering were established in Amritapuri and Bangalore. All three Schools offer B Tech, M Tech and PhD programs in a large number of disciplines. Outstanding students aspiring for careers in engineering, from across the country and abroad are enrolled in the three Schools.

The faculty include numerous doctorates from leading universities around the world. The Schools have seen a phenomenon of "brain-gain" vs. the more conventional "brain-drain", where-in highly qualified people from the West have moved back to India inspired by Amma's vision for building top centers for learning in India.

Several funded research projects are currently ongoing at the R&D Centers and Departments of the Schools. These projects enjoy support from international and national partners including the European Commission, DST, TIFAC, ISRO, DRDO, Ministry of Information Technology.
